smart home business
RESPECT YOUR SCHEDULE.
As a smart home business owner I say this because I used to over-book myself constantly, running from one end of town to the next for client appointments, lunch dates and networking events while trying to squeeze in productive time. I had a hard time saying no if a customer wanted to meet with me on a certain day and time. It was always on their terms because I hadn’t figured out that my time was as valuable as theirs. Finally I learned to look at my own priorities and obligations as “business appointments,” I was able to simply tell people, “That time doesn’t work for me” – and not be fearful of losing the customer when I said it. (It sounds silly now but when I was new to having my own home business, that’s how I thought about things.) Start saying to yourself, “I am a business owner. I am running a business. My time is valuable.” Smart home business people respect their own needs while remaining flexible. (Sometimes you’ll have to run from one thing to the next, but don’t make a habit of it.) Take a stand for your schedule and allow others to work around you.
